What is SIAE tax?

The SIAE tax is an amount owed to the Societa Italiana degli Autori ed Editori, an Italian governing body for music to be played either live or recorded at any party, event or wedding in Italy. It’s a bit like music royalties. The payable amount will differ depending on the type of music you have, the number of guests and the event itself.


What do you need it for?

At event during your Wedding Celebration where there is music being played by a band, singer, DJ or through a PA system. If music is being played to a party, you need a licence and hence to pay the SIAE tax for your Wedding. This stands for Weddings at official Wedding venues as well as private villas.


How much does it cost?

Live music: 256 - 390 euro

Recorded music: 360 - 548 euro

Live and recorded music: 360 - 548 euro For liturgical music in a church, with any number of guests, there is no fee.


How do you get the SIAE tax paid for your Wedding?

It’s easy - either complete the online form or visit one of their local offices where you can pay for the document in-person. In order to access, you have to sign in and create an account on the website.

You will first need to verify an account by confirming a code via an email sent to you. After which you can continue with the process and receive an email with the confirmed licence that you can share with the music and the venue you chose.
