Here's your ultimate guide to choosing the perfect Italian wedding backdrop.

So, you’re officially in wedding planning mode, and Italy has stolen your heart. Bellissimo. But now comes the tough part: Tuscany or Amalfi Coast?

Both are iconic, both are stunning (and actually aren't the only options)— but they couldn’t be more different. One whispers rustic romance with cypress trees and Chianti wine, the other screams cinematic glamour with cliffside villas and Aperol spritzes on the beach.

If you’re torn between these two Italian dreamscapes, this guide will help you decide based on vibe, logistics, cost, and guest experience.

Tuscany: Rustic Elegance & Countryside Charm

The Vibe

Tuscany is your go-to if you're dreaming of a wedding immersed in the countryside. Think terracotta villas, vineyards stretching to the horizon, olive groves and sunset dinners under fairy lights, and timeless, earthy romance.

Ideal For:

  • Countryside lovers & wine enthusiasts

  • Rustic chic aesthetics

  • Multi-day wedding weekends with pool parties, pizza nights, and wine tastings

Pros:

✔️ Plenty of spacious venues for big groups

✔️ World-renowned food and wine

✔️ Gorgeous golden-hour lighting for photos

✔️ Easy to host a multi-day celebration (you’ll want to stay!)

Cons:

❗Requires more transport coordination (some countryside venues are 'remote')

❗No sea view — just olive trees and vineyard vibes (but… is that really a con?)

Amalfi Coast: Coastal Glamour & Iconic Views

The Vibe

The Amalfi Coast is the showstopper. With its dramatic cliffs, pastel villages, and luxury vibes, it’s ideal for couples who want wow-factor and Mediterranean magic.

Ideal For:

  • Chic, stylish couples who love a little drama

  • Intimate weddings or elopements

  • Fashion-forward events with a side of limoncello

Pros:

✔️ Breathtaking backdrops for every photo

✔️ Coastal cuisine = fresh seafood, endless prosecco

✔️ Great for smaller, high-end celebrations

✔️ You've access to lots of wonderful beaches

Cons:

❗Limited space — venues are often smaller and book out fast

❗Can be more expensive (especially Positano or Ravello)

❗Tougher logistics — lots of stairs, limited access for large transport

In a Few Words: Our Take as Local Experts

So, both areas are stunning. How to decide? Here's the deal: from our experience, Amalfi Coast can be a great, stunning, dreamy option for you if your wedding has one of these two conditions - either you have an intimate wedding (with 15 to 55 people), or you have a big budget (meaning 60k and up). The reason why we say this is because traveling to little charming Amalfi Coast villages can be tiring for your guest if not properly coordinated, and you want to offer that to them in order to help their overall experience, same thing with accommodations, whether you want to offer to your guests or they'll provide it, Amalfi Coast is great but is really expensive, specially during the summer. It's nothing impossible, but it's good to keep in mind.

Tuscany is generally speaking more easy to deal with, being bigger and more flat in terms of geomorphology. In some countryside venues you may need a few cars, just for that last-minute need or that little group that wants to visit a museum on the day after.

In terms of Airport Connections, they're most likely the same, at the end of the day the distance from Fiumicino airport is similar, as well as local airports like Florence for Tuscany and Naples for Amalfi Coast.

A good thing to know is this: if you're a lover of fish and seafood Amalfi Coast is your paradise, if you're a lover of meat, Tuscany is your paradise.

And if you’re really not sure yet if you prefer Tuscany or Amalfi Coast, that’s exactly what we’re here for.

🎯 Our Venue Scouting Service matches you with the best options for your guest list, style, and budget — whether you're drawn to olive groves or ocean cliffs.

Just starting out? Write us an email and ask us anything — from how much limoncello is too much limoncello, to whether your aunt’s walking stick can handle Positano or not.

Italy is always a good idea — but the where makes the magic.

Whether it’s a countryside sunset toast or a seaside first dance, you can’t go wrong. But you can go more personal, more practical, and more unforgettable — when you choose the place that fits you.
